Good day gamers! Today I wanted to discuss the news surrounding one of my favorite developers and my growing concerns regarding their latest announcements. Capcom seems to be increasing their attention on users who add mods to their games. This increased attention seemed to spike since a nude Chun-li mod was accidentally seen publicly being used by a competitor during a live Twitch competition last year. While this makes sense that Capcom doesn’t wish to have their characters displayed inappropriately, (obviously because it can hurt their reputation as a company) the argument is still being made that players should have the right to mod their games since they paid for the product. As a player who has dabbled in using Capcom mods, I think the use of mods should never be banned or stopped especially since it can invigorate interest in older titles that have been remade multiple times. Not to mention its just fun to play as different character skins in various games and it adds a new layer of humor, interest, and quality of life aspects to the game that normally would not be there.
What Is Modding?
For those players who don’t know, modding is the process of using virtual tools to correct or enhance a game’s code in order to fix, stabilize, or alter a games’ visuals. This is usually done by advanced users or enthusiasts who want to provide support to older games that no longer receive updates from the original developers. In addition, most mods provide optimization support for newer systems. Many times, mods are used to enhance or fix the overall vanilla experience and sharpen things up to make the gameplay much more enjoyable or interesting. In the case of Capcom games, modders usually make reskins for the original character models which can make them look like different characters altogether or enhance the existing models in all kinds of ways. Some of those mods are simple texture enhancements to updated colors, patterns, or costumes to a character, while others can remove articles of clothing or apply other NSFW content such as the nude Chun-li mod. Personally this is just a fun way to get more out of your games but I do think it is inappropriate to use them if the game will be shown to others.
Why Modding Is Fun And Useful
As an individual though, using them in the privacy of your own home should be totally allowed and honestly from my limited experience using them, they have made those games much more enjoyable. For example, playing Resident Evil 4 Remake has been an absolute blast with mods, especially the mods for Leon and Ada. My personal favorites are the Ghost (Modern Warfare 3) and Raiden (Metal Gear Revengeance) reskin mods for Leon which add a whole new coolness layer to the character. Playing as Leon with all the gear from Ghost from COD is one of the coolest things to see and it actually created genuine interest in finishing the game again. With Ada I had the most fun using Judy (Cyberpunk 2077), Lara Croft (MW2 version) and Bunny (First Descendant) mods which just give a whole new vibe to game. Separate Ways was so much more fun running around as those characters it just added another level of engagement that the base game doesn’t deliver on its own. I’ve also used a Terminator Genesis mod for Leon in mercenaries mode and it was one of the coolest mods I’ve seen. The quality of the mods were so well done, and even though they obviously don’t belong in the world of Resident Evil, it was just exciting to see new characters in the grim horror atmosphere.
Next I was able to get some Street Fighter 6 mods, and most of what’s available are very much like the NSFW Chun-li mods. The options for Street Fighter feel endless as you can make characters into something else entirely for example Marisa being modded to look like Kratos from God of War, or Ryu to look like Master Chief. Many are NSFW which provide sometimes really cool but skimpy outfits for pretty much all characters in the game. Some are just straight forward nude mods which depending on your interests and comfortability, can range from being either funny or sexy to a downright horror show. Honestly I think nude Zangeif mods are pretty disturbing but they exist for those players who want to see what he is packing. In my opinion modding should remain for adults only, especially since most of what’s out there can be seen as offensive or sexual. Again this all boils down to the players choices and comfortability with what they wish to add into their game, and again the adult mods should not be shown to others.
Mind Virus Being Injected Into Capcom
As we see Capcom pushing to crackdown on mod usage, we also see an increase in their use of specific westernized buzzwords and business practices as they announce an increase in diversity for their upcoming games. This may seem like a good thing on the surface, however, when you look into the state of the industry, this westernized standard openly hates its predominately male audience and looks to kill, remove, destroy, or distort any sense of normalcy in artworks which could potentially attract all kinds of new fans and customers. For some reason, this ideology openly hates gamers, players, or anyone who enjoys video games as they used to be. And this may sound like a crazy conspiracy (and it very well could be) however, weather we believe this is true or not – it doesn’t seem to matter as everywhere you look, female characters are being erased or warped to look male, masculine, entirely hidden, or removed which is inappropriate across the board. It’s disloyal to the fans and dishonest to the player base. Not to mention the abandonment of the original concepts through the use of censorship.
In addition to its diversity claims, Capcom has also been openly censuring / altering their original key artworks for their games in their rereleases, most recently their SNK x Street Fighter rerelease. The original artwork features slightly “revealing” character art and it has been edited to hide some parts instead of keeping true to the original cover. Now, this begs the question why would they do this? If there is no secret agenda to remove feminine characters then why did they hide / change the artwork? Why is this even a topic of conversation when this game is a remake of a classic fighter? And why change its art design now? While no one will be honest about the reasons, it can only leave us gamers to observe the industry from a distance and report what we see. I’ve spoken about this stuff before, and the industry has been hijacked by activists who are actors standing in as “allies” to seem sensitive towards minorities in the public eye. Sadly Capcom seems to be falling prey to this “you must be diverse or else” culture. Truthfully, I think this is all a coordinated effort to remove aesthetically pleasing and attractive characters from video games to appeal to non gamers and extremists of the letter community to act as though they are “allies” in false hopes of retaining their business and loyalty. Or worse, trying to normalize into young people lies about human life, so that everyone has to accept a sick adult’s private decisions, or force the idea of feeling “seen” or “represented” in a video game, which makes no sense, as games are not movies. What Capcom doesn’t seem to understand, is that these practices are part of a woke cult designed to sabotage the largest portion of the entertainment industry from within, and everyone is waking up to these garbage agendas.
Closing Thoughts on Capcom’s Direction
An incredible developer and publisher of games like Capcom should never be pinned down by false cultures and hypocritical western ideologies, or ideologies of any country for that matter. Capcom should make the games they originally wish to make with no level of censorship at any capacity. Their more violent games like Resident Evil / Biohazard should remain as they are brutal, scary, and filled with thrilling story driven action and set pieces. It’s what makes those games unique in the first place. Their fighter games should remain focused on making attractive characters with killer looks and styles for audiences to enjoy across the board – regardless of peoples beliefs. All their creativity for all of their games should be free of social politics, agendas, or pandering to people who don’t even support their products. This term of “diversity” is a game killer as it implies these companies will bring in creators who are brainwashed into the extremist rainbow cult of all things disturbing. Capcom is one of my favorite developers of all time, and their games are loved by millions of players globally. If they don’t stand their ground and hold firm on Japanese creativity and unique game design philosophy with their characters, they can kiss success goodbye.
In regards to modding, they need to let it go and let players have fun with their games. If there needs to be a rule or policy to remove them from public visibility, that is one thing, as mods do not reflect the actual product. But overall use for players’ personal game should always remain free use and open. Mods create more interest and buzz in all their projects overall, and in many cases actually increase player engagement. In my experience, I hadn’t touched Resident Evil 4 remake since I purchased in on sale. I had made it through the first chapter or so and I stopped playing. It was still a great game, but I had already beaten it like 5 times before, starting from the GameCube version, to the PS2 version, and the remastered versions on PC. So I was already a little burnt out of the game even though I still liked it. Once I discovered mods for it though, it opened a whole new way to experience the game as refreshed visuals were now possible. I actually finished the Separate Ways DLC because I was able to play it as Judy from Cyberpunk 2077. Without the mods for the game I would have just left the title sitting there with only an hour or two of gametime.
Personal Thoughts On The Gaming Industry
Finally, I’m just going to be open and honest with you gamers. I’m getting tired of what has happened to the gaming industry. Many other people are getting tired too, and its gotten so bad that there are websites dedicated to calling out “wokeness” in video games and movies across the board. Big companies are just so aggressively hateful towards their customers who are asking for things to just be fun and enjoyable again. Movies should just be movies, and video games should just be video games – not politically motivated voice boxes to promote propaganda and true hate towards men or women.
We only have one life and it is already a struggle to live it with everything you need to do as a responsible adult, but now having to worry about what kind of person your favorite developer is hiring, because you’re afraid they will ruin or alter your favorite characters is just way too much. Gaming is an art form, and a form of mental release for me. I play my action packed brutal games because they are exciting, engaging, fun, and they take my mind off of the stress that I deal with on a regular basis. Stress like dealing with the daily grind of a big city, angry and entitled people from work, annoying coworkers and bosses, loneliness, and possible depression which are constantly hovering around. But when all the dust settles and you finally get a chance to play a cool video game with beautiful female characters, or beastly strong male characters, you can sit back and mentally fall into the fun of a video game, unplugging your mind from the daily stress.
Recently though, seeing the Wokepacalypse of games that have been coming out this year like Concord, Dustborn, or Suicide Squad KTJL, everywhere you turn, there is someone trying to get you to think like a victim, to hate yourself or change yourself, and if you don’t, to hate someone else and blame them for your problems. Not only that, but these messages in games are coupled with uglified characters, poor gameplay and pride flags – in a video game. Its just sad. No one needs this garbage (which in some cases is paid for by the government) force fed into your entertainment. Then if you call it out or disagree with woke messaging, content, or gender politics in a video game, you are instantly hated and are considered a problem for some reason. It ends now. Players are speaking up more than ever with wallets. No one is going to support these creators who are pushing these agendas into games and movies, and it will be really sad to see Capcom, one of the greatest developers of all time, fall prey to this situation because they decided to go “woke” in an attempt to appear diverse or inclusive. Video games are a beautiful artform and they deserve to be created freely by the vision of their creators. Games are awesome but when their creators are telling you the player to hate yourself for the way you think, or for not accepting what they see is “right” or “acceptable” something is clearly wrong. No one has the right to tell you that, not a developer, not a movie or show, not a peer, and you definitely should never hear that from subliminal messaging in a video game.
As always gamers, thank you for reading this post if you made it all the way down here, I really appreciate your support and dedication to reading my words. My apologies that I don’t have any content for this post, I’m still working on getting access to photos and on my website, hopefully I can get everything up and running again before the end of the year. Stay strong, and stay positive because thing are changing little by little for the better. Gaming will go back to being awesome again soon. Have a great day.
