It has been six months since the legendary author Tom Clancy has passed, in October of last year, but his name still lives on with video games and other popular entertainment. The latest from video game to carry his name is Tom Clancy’s The Division.
This open world third person shooter RPG is being developed by Massive Entertainment and is utilizing a brand new next generation game engine called Snowdrop. Snowdrop is built from the ground up to be one of the most dynamic and realistic graphics engines on next generation consoles to date. On top of having a shiny new graphics engine, the game will be supporting cooperative multiplayer, and online connection through a mobile device or tablet. Players who are using mobile devices are able to join their friends online and provide support, target enemies and even attack enemies through a birds-eye view of the battlefield all in real time.
If this is not impressive enough, the game is also set in possibly the most accurate and realistic recreation of New York City ever seen in a video game. Tom Clancy’s The Division is looking to be a phenomenal game with stunning detail and tons of gameplay options. Current generation console owners would be disappointed to know that The Division is a next generation game only. As of now the game is said to be exclusive to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Unfortunately the game does not have an official release date, but it is rumored that it may be released sometime in the fourth quarter of 2014. Down below are some screenshots of the game and the Snowdrop engine showcase video that give you an in depth look at the engine’s capabilities.
